Abandoned WWII American Airfield
Rattlesden, England
1980

i walk the shadow
of
the
luna moth,

two miles ahead
of me

running
in
the
airfield

a vapor trail
at the rising

of the
angels,

flown like flags
in
the
pitchblack;

the bombers
mumble
in
memory

of the
spirit
at the
end of

the
room;

the Briefing Hall
glides
through voices

in
the
dark

my
comrades
gather

by
the
map,

in
the
hall

of
two
truths;

life,
and
death
