Millburn Was Also Known As…

Who remembers the birthday of the sea?
Who recalls the channels of the sky
Who whispers as

Walking in the dark,
Walking in
Light?

What is comparable to birth? you ask
A traveler has
Library books;

My father, Dave Fern and Carmine Pedecine
Rescued a multitude during
The Depression;

With mortal speech
Without a word
They brought people to safety

On Sundays people came to the back door,
My father saw them, and Dave and
Carmine saw to it

They took up their
Lives
Again

Lackawanna Station; Millburn, 1978.
